Before the first quarter was over, Remsen-Union led 34-0 and strolled to a 54-12 victory over Clay Central-Everly in Royal on CC-E's homecoming.
Remsen scored on two punt returns in the first half, and used its speed to break long runs to the endzone.
"We did some nice things but they're the better team," CC-E coach Austin Davis said. "They had a lot of speed and were able to get to the edge and take it to the house."
Remsen-Union led 40-0 in the second quarter, which triggered the running clock. CC-E got on the board in the second half, first with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Chazz Brown to Ty Hoffman. Brown would score the game's final touchdown on a 40-yard scamper on an option fake where he ran around the end untouched for the score.
Colton Doran led the Mavs in rushing with 74 yards on 22 carries. Brown rushed for 65 yards on 16 carries and was 5-of-15 passing for 63 yards and a touchdown and one interception. The interception was returned for a touchdown for Remsen's last score.
Remsen-Union completed 6-of-8 passes for 118 yards and two scores, and rushed for a total of 150 yards. The two punt returns and interception return limited the offensive production.
"I'm happy with the effort," Davis said. "We got down a little in the second quarter, but for 13 guys, the heart they show out there. They're never going to quit. I was proud of their effort in the second half."
CC-E (0-6, 0-4) will travel to Harris-Lake Park next Friday for another district game.
