'Festival of Trees'

Saturday, September 29, 2012

The Festival of Trees will mix fun and fundraising Nov. 15-17.

Sponsored by the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation, the festival features creative holiday displays throughout the community, a tour of homes, evening design show, children's event with Santa Claus and more. Specific details will be announced closer to the date.

"Those of us who plan the biannual Festival of Trees enjoy being able to provide activities which attract people to our community and are appreciated by local folks, as well as enable us to raise funds to support our Foundation's mission of enhancing healthcare in our region," Susan Zulk, vice president of marketing and fund development for Spencer Hospital, said.

Zulk noted that proceeds from the event are designated for women's health services.

Currently, displays are being sought for the festival, as well as sponsors for the series of events. Businesses throughout the community are encouraged to participate by either having their own festival display or by hosting a tree or display created by an individual, church group, service club or non-profit organization. Anyone interested in creating a tree or other holiday display should contact the foundation office at Spencer Hospital for details.

"In addition to those who host or create wonderful displays, we also really appreciate the sponsors who help offset the expenses associated with the Festival," Mindy Gress, executive director for the Spencer Regional Healthcare Foundation, said.

All Festival sponsors are recognized in the festival program and on both of the Festival of Trees displays, one located in the hospital and the other in downtown Spencer. Ticket sponsors also receive complimentary tickets to events with the number of comp tickets coordinating with their level of sponsorship.
