This was the third time this season the Tigers have beaten the Braves, this being the official Lakes match. Spencer is now 2-1 in conference play and 12-10 overall.
The match started with Cherokee getting out to a 12-6 lead in set one, and maintaining a lead until Spencer was finally able to tie the game at 22-22. The Tigers were able to pull out the close win, 28-26.
The second set saw Cherokee take the lead in the middle of the match, leading 20-13. Spencer rallied and again tied the Braves at 22-22 before going on to win 25-22, winning 12 of the final 14 points.
In the third set, Spencer took advantage early in the set and led throughout as they closed out the match, 25-20.
Spencer beat Cherokee, 2-0, back on Aug. 28 at an MOC-Floyd Valley tournament. They won, 2-1, over Cherokee at the Spencer Invitational on Sept. 8.
Spencer will travel to Urbandale this Saturday for a tournament before finishing out the final two weeks of the regular season with four remaining Lakes Conference games. They will host No. 2-ranked Western Christian next Tuesday, Oct. 2.
