The Iowa Lakes soccer teams swept Indian Hills Community College on Saturday afternoon at the Spencer Soccer Complex. The women dominated the match and beat a winless Indian Hills team, 9-0. The Laker men played a much closer match, edging out the 1-0 victory.

The women got two goals each from Dani Huston and Lizzy Rasmussen and five other Lakers scored in the conference blowout. Indian Hills (0-9-2) didn't even get a shot attempt as the Lakers out-shot them, 32-0. Iowa Lakes improves to 7-3 overall.

"We came out today with some real good pace and had lots of players moving," head coach Ammon Bennett said. "We've been working on constantly moving and creating opportunities in the offensive third of the field."

On Wednesday, Sept. 19, the Laker women narrowly beat the Grand View University Reserve squad, 1-0, in Marshalltown. Brooke Saxton followed up a shot by Jill Brockbank that hit the cross bar for the match's only goal.

Carlos Sanchez took a pass from Ryan Murray and found the back of the net as the Laker men won its conference match against Indian Hills on Saturday, 1-0.

"They challenged us very well and although we won the game, we made some critical mistakes that Indian Hills just couldn't capitalize on," Bennett said. "In the end, a win is a win and we're pleased with the effort today."

Iowa Lakes men lost 4-0 to Marshalltown on Wednesday, Sept. 19. The Lakers gave up two early goals and couldn't recover. ILCC men are 4-6 overall this season.

Both teams will host Scott Community College today (Tuesday), men at 2 p.m. and women at 4 p.m.
