Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Ewoldt, 69, of Spencer, were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Tonna Parsons officiated the service.

Burial occurred at Liberty Township Cemetery in Calumet.

Mrs. Ewoldt passed away Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Spencer Hospital.

Joyce Ewoldt, daughter of Bert George Speed and Ethel Mae Parsons Speed, was born Oct. 20, 1942, in Clay County, Iowa. Her childhood was spent on the Speed family farm near Webb. She attended and graduated from Webb High School in 1960.

Joyce married Dennis Lee Ewoldt on Dec. 8, 1962. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer. Her dream of living in the country was fulfilled when they bought an acreage north of Spencer. Dennis and Joyce raised suffolk sheep for many years and started the county trophy for 4-H sheep in Clay County. Joyce worked at Shopko, Wal-Mart and Crossroads Gas Station. She enjoyed sewing, antiquing, cooking, gardening, shopping, and spending time with her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents; and her brother, James Eugene Speed.

Joyce is survived by her brother, Robert George (Bob) Speed; her daughter, Lisa and her husband, Bill Elliott; daughter, Lynnette and her husband, William Jones; son, Daniel Ewoldt and his wife, Lisa Wilcox Ewoldt; daughter, Crystal and her husband, Randy Bechler; four grandchidren: Lindsey, Emily, Homiya and Thamarai; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
