Rick Springfield, Air Supply will mix new stuff with 80s hits

Three Australian natives will entertain on the Clay County Fair grandstand stage, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Air Supply and Rick Springfield will perform many memorable hits and introduce fans to some new stuff too.

Springfield has been to a lot of places and performed for a lot of different people, but this trip to Spencer will be a first.

Springfield will perform his mega-hit, "Jessie's Girl," along with several other favorites. The 80s icon will also offer a sneak peak of a new record which will release in October.

"We have a new record coming out in October, so I will be playing a few songs from that," Springfield said.

Springfield may be most recognized from a career that kick-started in the 80's when he could be seen everywhere from daytime TV to concert tours across the U.S. The musician, however, feels that right now he is producing his strongest material.

"I love playing the old stuff, but I feel as if the stuff that I have released in the last four years has been some of my best work," Springfield said. "It's the new stuff that gets more tours and that's what fans want to see, so I'm focusing on releasing my best work."

Air Supply has grown considerably since they first began performing together in the spring of 1975 at local restaurants after local plays. The duo recorded a song together and began marketing it to record producers.

This will be the first time that the duo has performed in Spencer. In 2010, they released their most current album "Mumbo Jumbo."

Fans will look forward to enjoying two of the group's biggest hits, "Lost in Love," and "All Out of Love," when they take the stage at the fair.
