Hansen provides race safety gear for firefighters

Daaron Hansen, an independent agent with AFLAC, helped purchase eight fire suits designed for use with motor sports racing. The Spencer Fire Department previously used their much heavier, bulkier-structured fire gear, which reduced their accessibility to some of the vehicles. The new gear, which includes a full helmet for protection, is made of a lighter material, which allows fire fighters to remain cooler in the summer temperatures and gives additional flexibility for maneuvering, in case of an accident. Hansen (in back) joined Spencer firefighters Todd Huckfelt and Denny Klatt, for the photo. The firefighters have been using the suits throughout the summer race season at the Clay County Fair Raceway, and will put the suits to the test this week with both the Arnolds Motor Supply season finale and World Of Outlaws in town for the fair. This will be the final racing action for the season.
