Let there be light

Saturday, September 8, 2012

A crew from Pixler Electric works to install a new light on one of four monuments on the Grand Avenue bridge. The lights were a part of the $2.4 million Grand Avenue improvements added more than two years ago, but a $23,697 Iowa Great Places Grant specifically for monument lights was denied. In total, a $10,000 donation from Spencer Parks Supporters and about $10,000 from the city's capital improvement plan fund picked up the tab for the bridge lights and smaller lights for three other new monuments on the city's main artery.
