With The Prime Rib in its 31st year of business, owner Gary Huberg sees the light at the end of the tunnel regarding his role with the establishment.

"I'm getting old," Huberg said, chuckling.

Beginning Tuesday, Tiffany Mohr will take over management responsibilities of the dining establishment in south Spencer, with long-term goals in mind.

Tiffany and husband, Brian Mohr, are looking to assume ownership sometime down the road.

"They're going to take over," Huberg said. "They're going to be my managers and will plan to buy the place down the road."

Huberg assured he wasn't leaving within the next year and said he doesn't anticipate much sadness when he steps away.

"When it's time, it's time," Huberg said.

Brian Mohr said the management responsibilities will fall on Tiffany's shoulders until the two take ownership of the business.

"My main focus is still on my main job at the golf course and I will continue to focus on my job at the golf course," Mohr, Spencer Municipal Golf Course superintendent, said. "It's a business opportunity for us down the road. Right now, it will be a full-time job for Tiffany."

Mohr acknowledged that he and his wife are excited about the future of The Prime Rib.

"We're excited. We're not sure what the time frame is, but we love The Prime Rib and Gary is a great friend," Mohr said. "He has been a friend for a long time. We want to make sure everything stays the same and The Prime Rib continues to be The Prime Rib."

I've got a lot of great memories at the Prime Rib. Beginning back when it was a restaurant at the south park mall. My first real job was washing dishes and Gary was fun to work for. ha, a little crazy at times, but things were always interesting.

Good luck with the retirement Gary! Hope all is well your way
