Funeral services for Mr. Dale Leroy Roberts, 78, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at United Methodist Church in Peterson. Rev. Michael Hyde and Rev. Kim Dewey will officiate the service.

Flag presentation will be conducted by Dean Underwood Post No. 10.

Interment will take place at Oakland Cemetery in Peterson.

Dale Leroy Roberts, the son of Arthur and Roberta Beckham Roberts, was born June 13, 1934, in Buena Vista County, Ia. Dale grew up in the Sutherland and Peterson areas. He received his education in Peterson and graduated from the Peterson High School. Following his schooling, Dale enlisted with the United States Army in January 1955, serving until his honorable discharge in January of 1957.

Dale married Carolyn (Stoner) Rothrock on June 20, 1981, in Sioux Falls, S.D. For over 30 years, Dale worked at the Peterson Elevator and was a longtime volunteer fireman in Peterson. While growing up, Dale and his family were members of the Maple Grove Church and presently he was a friend of the United Methodist Church in Peterson. In his spare time, Dale enjoyed camping, golf, attending auctions and garage sales, and he especially loved mowing lawn.

Dale passed away at his home on Aug. 26, 2012, at the age of 78.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Darwin and Sandy Roberts; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rod and Teresa Stoner; and niece, Krissy Maaland.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Peterson; three sons: Tim of Spencer, Tony of Winterset, Ia. and Troy of Sheffield, Ia.; one daughter, Tracy (Randy) Schultz of Peterson; step-children: Scott (Michelle) Rothrock of Copper Hill, Va., Tony (Stacy) Rothrock of Kingsley, Ia. and Jacquie (Jim) Kehoe of Peterson; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Carl (Joan) Roberts of Fremont, Neb.; brother-in-law, Roger (Jane) Stoner of Peterson; sister-in-law, Sharon (Irv) Maaland of Hartley, Ia.; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Peterson is in charge of arrangements.
