Joy Lynne Williams, daughter of Charles F. and H. Maxine (Wood) Lewis, was born Feb. 2, 1951, in Emmetsburg, Ia. Joy graduated from Stanzel Christian High School in 1969.

On May 8, 1971, Joy was united in marriage to Elmer L. Williams at the First Baptist Church in Curlew.

Joy was employed at Longhouse Northshire in Spencer, as a CNA for over twenty years. From 1993-1996 she worked at the Milford Nursing Home and then accepted a position at Sunshine Group Home where she was currently working.

Joy's love of people was evident in all of the years she spent caring for others. One of the greatest highlights in her life was her grandchildren. Joy also enjoyed doing cross stitch, embroidery, and crocheting. She was an avid reader of all types of literature.

She was a devoted and active member of the Spencer Family Church. Joy found a beautiful way to share her love for her church family as well as anyone she came in contact with. She sent countless numbers of cards to friends and family for all occasions, or even if she thought a card would brighten someone's day. If Joy had met you, you became family to her.

Joy passed away Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 61.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Norma A. Hanson; and a brother, C. Gaylord Lewis.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer; her children: Allen (Sara) Williams and Clyde J. (Trista) Williams; grandchildren: Noah Swenson, Misty and Anjel Williams - all of Spencer; a sister, Betty (Roger) Holaday of Massena, Ia.; nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
