Mainstreet Market finale sets record

Friday, August 17, 2012

Temperatures in the low 70s and the absence of mosquitos set the tone for the final Mainstreet Market on Thursday evening. Jim Schooley, secretary of Spencer Alliance for a Creative Economy, estimated the crowd to be at about 1,000 people, which topped the previous week's estimated mark of 900. "This is our biggest crowd we've ever had," Schooley said. Area native Chad Elliott (above), along with Bonita Crowe, entertained the crowd throughout with a mixture of original folk songs and classic covers.
