Monsanto discusses 'corn-on-corn' care

Tuesday, August 14, 2012
With the recent dry spell, coupled with brutal heat, many area farmers have corn on the brain. A large turnout welcomed presenters at Monsanto's recent "Corn-on-Corn" clinic at the Clay County Regional Events Center. Participants took notes as Dr. Alison Robertson, Iowa State University associate professor and extension field crop pathologist (above), addressed the topic of disease management. Robertson was one of four speakers which included Kyle Freeman, with new product development for The Mosaic Company, speaking on fertility management; Craig Lamoureux, Monsanto Technology Development representative, on insect management; and Monsanto End Use manager Steve Peterson, on residue management. Aaron Mugge, of Greenfield; Ron Christenson, of Royal; and Brian Bueggeman, of Harris took part in the three-person farmers' panel which wrapped up the 3 1/2 hour event. The room was filled to capacity. (Photos by Randy M. Cauthron)
