This year's Mainstreet Market will close with a performance by Chad Elliott at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Averaging over 100 shows per year, Elliott has been on the road for more than a decade performing a blend of roots, blues and folk music. He has played across the country and has been lauded as a modern-day troubadour.

Elliott's latest studio CD, "Redemption Man," was produced by Bo Ramsey. It included the song "Same Old Way," which was the 2009 Woody Guthrie Festival song contest winner as well as a third place winner in the 2009 International Songwriting Contest in the Americana category. Also on that album are the songs, "Redemption Man," and "Illinois," which won Elliott a new folk finalist spot in the 2008 Kerrville Folk Festival.

Elliott, a longtime Spencer resident, now lives in Coon Rapids. At his studio on Main Street, he creates and displays his artwork, including albums, acrylic paintings, ceramic sculpture, functional pottery, and more.

This will be the final Mainstreet Market of the year. Along with free live entertainment, Mainstreet Market features fresh produce, original art by area artists, and food from a variety of vendors.

The Spencer Community Theatre will be grilling burgers as a fundraiser Thursday.

Mainstreet Market is a joint venture of the Spencer Main Street Company and the Spencer Alliance for a Creative Economy (SPACE). In case of rain, the music will move to Arts on Grand.
