I went and saw "Step Up 4: The Revolution" last night. I went, after having watched all three of the previous movies in the franchise, expecting an epically terrible movie with amazing dancing. And that's exactly what I got.
But, I was so excited when I saw the trailer for the movie "The Perks of Being a Wallflower." I haven't even read the book, and yet I still feel that it shaped my high school years, at least in some way.
I'm excited for a movie that doesn't necessarily have to be "about" anything. I'm excited to see Emma Watson in a role that doesn't have a long black robe and a talented wand included. But I'm really excited for the writing of this movie.
Some of my already favorite lines include "Be. Aggressive! Passive. Aggressive!" and "I got a C-! I am below average! BELOW AVERAGE!"
It's stories like this that inspire me to go home and also write good stories. And it's movies like Step Up 4 that inspire me to go home and write better ones.
But the dancing is really quite fantastic.
