Amy Christie to exhibit at Arts on Grand
Arts on Grand is hosting an exhibit of works "From the Studio of Amy Christie" beginning Tuesday and continuing until Sept. 22.
Christie is a contemporary mixed media artist based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area of Minnesota. Her work is characterized by heavy texture, deep color saturation and sculptural elements. Her materials include polymer clay, paint, paper, inks and wire.
Growing up in small town Iowa, Christie spent her childhood creating things. This love of art and creating things led her to study art where she focused primarily on book and paper art and graduated with a BA in fine arts. It was during college that Christie found a new material, polymer clay, and her world was forever changed.
While her work and materials have changed and evolved, her style and dedication to making quality, unique art has stayed the same. Christie continues to hone her craft and works to get it into the hands of art lovers everywhere.
"If we share ourselves," Christie Said, "in whatever medium we choose, we have shared a most precious gift that can affect anyone willing to receive it."
There will be an artist reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9. The public is invited, and refreshments will be served.
The exhibit is being sponsored by Asher Motor Company.
