Much needed rain part of Tall Corn Days

Rain was a welcome site at Tall Corn Days in Sioux Rapids Saturday. Although it impacted some of the scheduled events, the much needed moisture was a welcome sign on a day dedicated to celebrating the area's agricultural base. The competition at the Tall Corn contest was slim this year, due to the drought conditions. First place went to Shirley Drenth, 13-2 7/8; second place went to Victor Drenth, 12-7; and tied for third were Steve Ruhs and Nevaeh Brauhn, 11-6 1/2. There were many events throughout the Tall Corn Days weekend including a horseshoe pitching tournament and a corn feed. (Below) Justin Treglia, of Sioux Rapids, enjoyed his corn; and (Above) Duane "Drano" Anderson gets ready to pitch. (Bottom) Little Bo Peep - aka Jayden Miller - and her little lost sheep...er...horse walked in the parade.
