Pink wins big

Saturday, July 21, 2012

The annual Pink Ribbon Classic ladies' golf tournament brought in 128 golfers and more than $17,000 dollars for the ongoing fight against cancer. Final fundraising amounts weren't available Friday as hole sponsorships, raffles and special games and activities bring in additional dollars, which will be added to the $200 per four-person team entry fee. Organizers Amy Essick and JaMae Dau (above), who worked with others to coordinate the event at the Spencer Municipal Golf Course, are ready to roll in their appropriately decorated cart Friday morning. Balloons were released in honor of breast cancer survivors shortly after 9 a.m. and the teams were off (below), racing to the holes to compete in the fun event.
