The Inn at Okoboji has been an acclaimed establishment of Lake Okoboji for 116 years. When it became The New Inn in 1956, it was Marilyn Maye who took her place as the star entertainer at the Lake. She has continued her success at The Inn for a period of 55 years. Now, 56 years later, Maye will entertain her fans and longtime friends once again during a three-show run July 22, 24 and 25. Each show will begin at 7:30 p.m.

She has performed for four generations of residents in the area. Her new show, "The Happiest Sound In Town," features some of her most-requested numbers including "Here's That Rainy Day" and "Come In From The Rain," which were personal favorites of Johnny Carson. Maye performed them several times during her 76 appearances on "The Tonight Show" at Carson's personal invitation.

Maye received 11 rave reviews for "The Happiest Sound In Town," which she presented at Feinstein's Loew's Regency Hotel in New York City for two weeks, closing May 5.

Add her 76 appearances on "The Tonight Show," multiple appearances on national prime-time television shows, such as Ed Sullivan, Hollywood Palace, Jackie Gleason, Merv Griffin, Mike Douglas, Dick Cavett and more, a Grammy Award nomination as "Best New Artist," a bevy of awards reflecting her showmanship, and you have an illustrious singing career that is still going strong.

Last April, the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs awarded Maye the "Celebrity of the Year" award for the fourth consecutive year. Most recently Marilyn received a Lifetime Achievement Award from New York's "Broadway Cares" Association.
