Mainstreet Market takes place from 5-8 p.m. Thursdays at the Clay County Courthouse square through Aug. 16.
This year, area authors will be reading from their writings on the east side of the courthouse before the music begins. Kendall Oliver will again be at the Arts on Grand tent each week to do face painting and art projects with kids of all ages.
Along with free live entertainment, Mainstreet Market features fresh produce, original art by area artists, and food from a variety of commercial and nonprofit vendors. Most weeks, food will be available from a local nonprofit group as a fundraiser.
The first evening, Fareway will be helping the Clay Central/Everly School District raise money for its nature learning center by preparing and serving grilled ribeye steak sandwiches, chips, and beverages.
Mainstreet Market is a joint venture of the Spencer Main Street Company and the Spencer Alliance for a Creative Economy (SPACE). In case of rain, the music will move to Arts on Grand.
