John Cotton laughs as he talks about the late Stan Schoelerman's membership in the Protective Order Of Professional Fundraisers And Reformed Tax Crackers, during a celebration of Schoelerman's life Thursday afternoon at Spencer Community Theatre. Dozens of family members and friends, including fellow Daybreaker Kiwanians, attended, sang some of Schoelerman's favorite songs and swapped memories. SCT Executive Director Connie Goeken spoke fondly of Schoelerman's support for the theatre and many other community projects. "The grace of God is free, but the pipeline has cost," was one of the mottos quoted at Schoelerman's memorial service and Goeken believed he lived by that motto. The event ended like the performances Schoelerman supported: With an applause for a job well done.
