South O'Brien got eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put an end to Clay Central-Everly's baseball season on Tuesday night with a 12-2 win in six innings in the Class 1A District semifinal in Hartley.

The Mavericks hung with South O'Brien for much of the game, scoring first and trailing by two runs, 4-2, entering the sixth inning before the Wolverines sent 13 batters to the plate and scored eight runs to invoke the '10-run' rule.

CC-E's Cam Medema took the loss after giving up six runs on eight hits. He walked one and struck out three. Medema gave up two hits without recording an out in the sixth innings before being removed from the contest.

Brock Breidinger came on in relief and gave up six runs (four earned) on three hits. South O'Brien (17-9) was led by leadoff hitter Cole Edel, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBIs. Bret Puhrmann also went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in the win.
