Focus groups to aid Blue Zones Blueprint efforts

Saturday, July 7, 2012

The Spencer Blue Zones Community Demonstration Site focus groups will begin meeting next week to help gather information and coordinate the effort locally.

As part of the local Blue Zones effort, local coordinators will host three focus groups over the next 10 days.

Looking at individuals and engagement, the first focus group will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday.

A second focus group - dealing with community and schools - will gather from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The final scheduled focus group will meet from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17.

All three meetings will be conducted at the Spencer Schools Central Administration Building.

These focus groups are the first step in the process to identify initiatives to be implemented in an effort to form Spencer's plan called the Blueprint.

Each evening will begin with an overview about the Blue Zones Project approach and will later engage the group to discuss: Does the proposed approach seem applicable to our community, which organizations or individuals are already doing great work in the community related to the topic of engagement, and what specific opportunities are people passionate about pursuing?

The public is encouraged to participate in the specific group or groups of interest.
