St. Mary's rallied to get a 3-2 win and the Twin Lakes Conference championship over Sioux Central on Tuesday, July 3 in Peterson. The Rebels lead 2-0 into the sixth inning when Joe Sandhoff tied the game with a two-run homer and Luke Lenhart singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh.

The Rebels got their two runs on the board in the fifth inning when Nick Wittmaack singled in Nathan Leer, and then was driven in by Mickenzie Nelson. Wittmaack and Leer both finished 2-for-3.

The next half inning, Sandhoff, the Panthers' starting pitcher, homered to left field off Sioux Central starter Brad Ripke to tie the game, 2-2. To start the seventh inning, Austin Demers reached on a Rebel error. Pinch runner Cole Felton then stole second on cathcer Tanner Archer, who replaced starter Colin Swanson, who left the game in the fourth after being struck with a foul-tip while batting.

With two outs, Lenhart delivered an RBI-single to give the Panthers a 3-2 lead, and ultimately the win. Ripke would ground into a double play to end the game.

Bobby Rushton went 2-for-2 as the Rebels totaled nine singles off Sandhoff, who earned the win after allowing no earned runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out eight.

Ripke took the loss with three runs (two earned) on five hits, one walk and eight strikeouts.

Both teams entered the game at 9-0 in the conference standings, despite Sioux Central defeating St. Mary's, 7-6, on June 27. The first game doesn't go against the conference record if the teams play twice in the Twin Lakes Conference.

Sioux Central (19-8) finishes the regular season at Harris-Lake Park on Friday, July 6, before beginning district play on Tuesday, July 10. They will play the winner of the Okoboji/Alta-Aurelia game in Emmetsburg.
