He was born in Spencer, on March 20, 1923, and served in the Army in the Philippines during WWII.
He graduated with a degree in business from the University of Southern California and worked for 37 years as an accountant and business manager for Standard Oil Company in El Segundo, Calif.
He lived in El Segundo, Calif. (after moving to California after WWII); Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mesa, Ariz.; and Salem, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Esther Walstrom, of Spencer, and his brother Veryl. He is survived by his wife Ruth (Schweitzer) of 69 years; his sister Lavon Kephart of Spencer; his daughter Cheryl Clark, his son James, 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Per his request, no services will be held and internment will be at Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids.
