The Sioux Central baseball team beat Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley on Saturday, 3-2, at the Spalding Catholic tournament in Granville. The Rebels got a complete game win from senior Bobby Rushton, who gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits, while striking out seven and walking two.
Nick Wittmaack was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three stolen bases, and Mickenzie Nelson went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. The Rebels are 15-5 on the season and hosted Alta-Aurelia in a double header Monday night in Peterson.
The Rebel girls lost to B-H/RV at the Okoboji softball invitational on Saturday, 7-1. Sioux Central picked up six hits in the loss, including two by Gloria Jensen, who took the loss. Hallie Ehlers stole a base and scored the only run for the Rebels.
The softball team also lost to Laurens-Marathon on Friday in Peterson, 4-1. They picked up five hits, including two by Natalie Jensen, who drove in the only run for the Rebels. Gloria Jensen took the loss despite giving up four hits in seven innings and striking out eight. The Rebels are now 6-16 on the season.
