Spencer Community Theatre is pleased to present the latest in their series of annual Cabaret fundraisers, "Good Rockin' Tonight," at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday night.
Nearly every year SCT produces a Cabaret Fundraiser, which is a fundraising musical-revue style of production. "Good Rockin' Tonight" will be a two-hour show with one intermission, focusing on more songs and stories from the early years of Rock 'n Roll.
Ever wondered what songs and types of music Elvis listened to as he was growing up? Among the early pioneers of Rock & Roll, which artists actually had the most influence? This Cabaret hopes to answer those questions.
Continuing the tradition of showcasing songs from the early years of rock and roll, Playhouse Cabaret will feature a combination of familiar classics and almost-forgotten songs, complete with interesting background stories on the artists who recorded them and the songs themselves.
Director/ creator Clark Marshall has assembled a talented group of musicians and singers for this exciting evening. Vocalists Jill Barr, Jean Johnson, Barb Larson, Bill Lauritzen, Bob Pettit and Nicole Stauffer will lend their considerable singing talents to showcasing the fun tunes and great harmonies of the 50s and 60s.
The SCT Playhouse Cabaret is a performance experience that provides something a little different for SCT audiences. The concert-like setting is more informal in its presentation than traditional theatrical productions that make up the SCT mainstage season, and it has enjoyed tremendous success over the past several years.
A reception featuring hors d-oeuvres and beverages follows the performance and is included in the ticket price. Playhouse Cabaret is SCT's major fundraiser of the year, and the financial support it provides is vitally important to sustain theatre programming for all ages.
