Montgomery charged in CC-E fund misappropriation
Former Clay Central-Everly Superintendent Monte Montgomery turned himself in to authorities Thursday morning, a day after first degree felony theft charges were filed by the Clay County Attorney's Office.
Montgomery, 49, of Royal, was processed and released in connection with the charges stemming from an investigation by the Clay County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, into funds allegedly misappropriated from the school district.
The investigation revealed between July 1, 2005 and Nov. 30, 2010, a misappropriation of funds Clay Central-Everly Community School District funds totaling $47,802.71. Montgomery is accused of responsibility by receiving improper disbursements as a result of his us of the school district's credit card.
