Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, with a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. at the Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Ruthven.
Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Ruthven.
John Baptist Molitor, son of Charles Sr. and Anna (Clemens) Molitor, was born Feb. 18, 1923, near Remsen. He attended Catholic School in Ashton, completing eighth grade. John then began farming, near Ashton, with his family. John later completed his education and received his G.E.D. from Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg.
On June 2, 1948, John was united in marriage to Eileen Mary Kenyon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mallard. To this union nine children were born.
John farmed in the area his entire life. He raised cattle, chickens, and hogs, along with dairy and grain farming. John was a crop insurance adjuster in the area for many years. He also did property and casualty adjusting when the tornado went through Arnolds Park. John was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ruthven.
John passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at his home near Ruthven, at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eileen; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Albert and Margaret Kenyon; a grandson, Tyler James Molitor; two sisters: Christina Winterfeld and Anna Marie Penning; and brothers: Clarence Joseph Molitor, Charles Molitor, Jr., Milo Molitor and Donald Molitor.
He is survived by his children: Roger (Becky Fricks) Molitor of Port St. John, Fla., JoAnn (John) Siple of Rochester, Minn., Paul (Patricia) Molitor of Ruthven, Dennis (Shirley) Molitor of Carroll, Melvin (Margaret) Molitor of Spencer, Marilyn (Michael) Hildreth of Brookings, S.D., Jeanette (Ronald) Schwartz of Shoreview, Minn., Geri (Fred) Walker of Des Moines, and John J. (Kelley) Molitor of Osage; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Dale (Jane) Molitor of Worthington, Minn., and Ernie (Alvina) Molitor of Floyd; a sister, Theresa (Marvin) Dammann of Little Rock; many nieces and nephews; as well as many other relatives and friends.
