Funeral services for Mrs. Yvonne L. Roberts, 64, of Royal, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2011, at United Methodist Church in Royal. Rev. Jo Frahm Watkins will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, with the family present from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Private burial will be at Willow Creek Cemetery in Royal at a later date.

A lunch and time of fellowship will be held immediately following the services at the Royal Community Center.

Mrs. Roberts passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at home in Royal.

Yvonne L. Roberts, the daughter of Manuel George and Margaret Liliana (Apau) Borge, was born May 7, 1947, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her childhood years were spent in Hawaii, where she received her early education. She was baptized in the Catholic faith.

She met her husband John Roberts while he was serving in the Navy and stationed in Hawaii. Shortly thereafter they moved to Royal where they raised their four children. Yvonne loved life. Her laughter was contagious. She enjoyed spending time with her children and adored her grandchildren. She loved music and enjoyed watching movies.

Yvonne was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary VFW and American Legion Auxiliary. She was a lifetime member of the 600 Pin Club from when she and John were avid bowlers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter in January of 1976; and her father-in-law.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband John Roberts, of Royal; her children: Debra and her husband, Greg Kingery, of Spencer, Marchelle and her husband, Curt Denker, of Sioux City, Ia., Elliot and his wife, Jen Roberts of Omaha, Neb., and Liliana and her husband, Tim Karaus of Omaha, Neb.; eight grandchildren; two sisters: Diane Harrington of San Diego, Calif., and Sandra Borge and Jacky Torres of Kailua, Hawaii; two brothers: Curtis and his wife, Sherrilynn Borge of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Charles and his wife, Vickie Borge of Aiea, Hawaii; her aunt and uncle, Virginia and Harold Lynch of Honolulu, Hawaii; and mother-in-law, Myrle Roberts of Royal, Ia.; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
