George A. Tewald
George A. Tewald, 43, of Somers, formerly of Spencer, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at his home from a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011, at the Northfield Church of Christ with Rev. Dale Harlow officiating.
A visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
George is survived by his wife, Kate; children: Malachi, Aerielle and the couple's foster children; mother, Rose Tewald of Spencer; brother, Eric (Amanda) Tewald of Duluth, Minn.; sister, Barbara (David) Sorenson of Brandon, S.D.; niece and nephew, Brittany and Austin Sorenson; father-in-law, Wes Garvey of Fort Dodge; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Tewald Sr.; niece, Carissa Berns; grandparents: Elise and Henry Tewald and Mildred and Harry Schaa; and mother-in-law, Jeanette Garvey.
George Allen Tewald was born April 16, 1968, in Spencer. He graduated from Spencer High School and then moved to Fort Dodge, where he attended Iowa Central Community College. George worked for Shoppers Supply for 17 years, starting in Spencer and then transferring to Fort Dodge. George was united in marriage to Kate Garvey on Aug. 25, 2001, and the family established their home in Somers. At the time of his passing, George was employed with Johnston Auto Company of Fort Dodge. He was a member of A.B.A.T.E, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed hunting and restoring old cars, especially Pontiac GTOs. George especially loved spending time with his children.
