Ronnie Fitzloff, 68, died peacefully at his home Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, surrounded by his family.
Ronnie was born June 11, 1943, in Spencer Hospital, the son of John & Alma (Hallcock) Fitzloff. He was raised and educated in Spencer, graduating in the class of 1961. After graduation he entered the US Navy, serving on the USS Los Angeles, and was honorably discharged in 1964. Shortly thereafter, upon his father's death, he took over the family farm.
Christened the Hard Knocks Farm, Ronnie raised and sold many exotic animals including buffalo, cougars, bobcat and elk. Additionally he nurtured many wounded animals back to health. He enjoyed curatoring an eclectic collection of antiques, fishing trips to Alaska followed by massive fish fries when he returned home, and educating dear friends during games of cards.
Left to cherish his memory are his long-time partner, Roberta Cate; daughter, Lori (Paul) Griffith, of California; son, Jay Fitzloff of Texas; sister, Cindy (Mike) Williams; nephew, Jeff (Lori) Fitzloff; and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and numerous friends.
