Funeral services for Mr. Duane Klett, 83, of Everly will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at Hope Lutheran Church in Everly. Rev. John Jensen will officiate.

Interment will take place at Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly.

Mr. Klett passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Duane was born Sept. 20, 1927 near Everly, Ia. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he married Jeannine Koehnk on Dec. 27, 1948, in Worthington, Minn. He then graduated from Buena Vista College and began his career in education.

Duane was a teacher and a coach at Thayer and Seymour, Ia. He also spent 22 years as an elementary principal in Corydon, Ia.

Duane and his wife, Jeannine, retired and returned to Everly in 1989.

Duane enjoyed his retirement years with family and friends and wintering in Texas. He was also quite an accomplished cook and golfer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanine; and survived by his sons: Scott (Connie) and Mark (Linda) Klett; granddaughters: Stacey Klett, Stephanie (Josh) Chapman, and Tracy (Rod) Toney; also great-granddaughters: Brittany and Brooke Toney.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of your choice.

Warner Funeral Home in Everly is in charge of arrangements.
