Funeral services for Mrs. Linda Menting, 62, of Spencer, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Spencer. President Jim Olson will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Interment will take place at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.

Mrs. Menting passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Midwestern Regional Medical Center in Zion, Ill.

Linda passed away with her husband and children by her side, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Born March 20, 1949, to Esley (Earl) and Charlotte Woolery in Spencer, Ia. Linda was the second of four children. Linda spent most of her life in the Spencer region.

On April 19, 1969, Linda was married to Marvin Menting in Spencer. Linda spent most of her working years in customer service. She worked for Walmart in Spencer for over 10 years. She loved working with the people of the community. In 2008, after a car accident, Linda was unable to continue working and soon found herself at home with many things to do with her grandchildren. Throughout her life, Linda enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, and music. Linda was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a deep love for the Lord and relied on Him many times during her battle with the disease the eventually took her home to a loving Heavenly Father.

Linda is survived by her loving spouse, Marvin of Spencer; children: Charlotte Maassen (Keith) of Orem, Utah, Greta Coleman (Matthew) of Boone, Ia., and Jeremy Menting (Naoko) of Everly, Ia.; grandchildren: Kayla, Alyssa, Abigale, Collin, Elizabeth, John, Brendan, Seth, Kanta, Dante, and Kosha; siblings: Randy Woolery (Cheri) of Spencer, Ia., and Lori Henderson of Salt Lake City, Utah; niece: Charity and Emma; nephews: Nathan, Samuel and Alexander; and many other cherished family and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her older brother, Larry; infant daughter, Cindy; and infant granddaughter, Adelaide.

The family would like to thank all of those who helped Linda in the last few months of her life. Our G-ma will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her dearly.
