Ruth E. Boostrom, 95, of Spencer, Ia., formerly of Rock Island, died Friday, May 20, 2011, at the St. Luke's Lutheran Home, Spencer. Services for Mrs. Boostrom will be 1 p.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church, Moline. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be in the Rock Island Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, Moline. Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 303 Seventh Ave., Rock Island is assisting the family.

Ruth was born on June 30, 1915, in Grassflat, Penn., a daughter of Thurston and Mary (Olson) Erickson. She married Darrell Boostrom on June 13, 1953, in Moline. Mr. Boostrom preceded his wife in death on June 28, 2005. Mrs. Boostrom worked as a secretary for John Deere & Co. before her retirement. Ruth was an active member of First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and attending her grandsons sporting events.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Diane and the Rev. C. Peter Maisenbach, Spencer; grandsons: John Maisenbach, serving with the U.S. Navy Special Forces (E.O.D.), Rota, Spain, and Benjamin Maisenbach, whom is attending Creighton University, School of Pharmacy, Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Astrid Sadoti, Boston, Mass.; and a brother, Arnold Erickson, Cedar Rapids, Ia.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrell; siblings: Helen Derr, Godfrey Erickson and Herbert Erickson.
