He grew up in St. Louis with Aunts Anna and Emma Langenberg and graduated from University High in 1935. Dr. Fieselmann earned his B.S. degree from the University of Iowa in 1939, a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa in January, 1944. For example, as an undergraduate at the University of Iowa he was a member of the Scottish Highlanders performing the Highland fling and drum dance at football games. He enjoyed bird watching, hiking, hunting, and a good game of cards. George loved music and the arts. Exploring the prairies and fens of Iowa was his passion. He loved wildflowers, weeds, grasses and sedges. George was a great storyteller, describing the heroes, gods and goddesses, and characters from Greek Mythology and literature.

Dr. Fieselmann served on several boards such as The University of Iowa Foundation, Spencer Hospital, First Congregational Church and as president of Spencer School Board.
