Lola M. Rohweder
Lola M. Rohweder, 87, of Walker, Minn., formerly of Milford, Ia., passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at the Golden Living Center in Walker. She was born on April 14, 1924, in Sioux Rapids, Ia. to Arthur and Emma (Fowler) Syndergaard.
She grew up in the Everly-Spencer area. She graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1943. Following school she lived in Spencer and worked as a waitress. She met and married Albert Rohweder on May 27, 1950 in Spencer, Ia. In 1955 they moved to Everly, Ia. where Lola spent close to 50 years before moving to Walker to be with her daughter and son in-law.
Lola loved being a home maker. She enjoyed gardening, canning, working on jigsaw puzzles, and spending time taking care of her family. She was also famous for her homemade baked bread.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; parents; brother, Emery Syndergaard; and granddaughter, Amanda Schmidtke.
Lola is survived by her daughter, Karla (Randy) Schmidtke of Walker; brother, Dale (Dorothy) Syndergaard of Cedar Rapids, Ia.; grandchildren: Rachel and Joshua; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lola will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Everly, Ia. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jo Watkins will officiate. Interment will be held at the Lone Tree Cemetery in Everly following the service at the church.
