Betty Heggestad passed away Jan. 24, 2011. Her husband, Rueben Heggestad passed away three years earlier on Jan. 1, 2008.
Betty was one of four children to Carl and Florence Jackson. She is survived by her younger sister, Nancy Jackson Price.
Her father was a successful business owner in Superior, Wis., where Betty was born. He was an avid fly-fisherman who drowned pursuing his art when she was 12.
She later attended the University of Wisconsin where she met her husband of 65 years, Rueben Heggestad.
In 1966, they purchased a cottage on West Okoboji, Ia. which became the love of their lives.
Betty lived in the lake home until her death.
She is survived by one sister; six children; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held June 18, 2011.
They were raised in nature and to nature they return.
