Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Machael Hill, 88 of Spencer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Michael Sharp will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. at the Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

Interment will take place at Clinton.

Mrs. Hill passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at Spencer Hospital.

Shirley Jane Machael Hill, the daughter of Edward and Alice Hansen Ketelsen, was born April 20, 1922, in Clinton, Ia. She received her early education and graduated from Clinton High School.

Shirley married Robert Machael on Jan. 2, 1944, in Clinton. To this union, two children were born, Pam and Steve. Following their marriage, they made their home in Fort Dodge and Washington, Ia. After Robert's passing, Shirley married Leonard Hill, an old classmate and high school friend. They lived in Kansas City for several years. A year ago, Shirley moved to Spencer to be closer to her family. She resided at Riverview Terrace where she made several new friends.

Shirley was a true Dane. She loved her coffee, sports, Fox News, and although she was a conservative, she enjoyed reading her Des Moines Register, especially the sports section. She also loved her Kansas City Chiefs and Royals, along with the Chicago Cubs.

She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; her son, Steve Machael; and one great-grandchild, Kiera Anne Livasy.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Livasy and her husband, Bob; grandson, Scott and Edna Livasy and Kate of Bartlesville, Okla.; granddaughter, Laurie and Brad Simington and Taylor and Koleton of Milford, Ia.; two sisters: Norma Jacobs of Clinton, Ia. and Marian Green of Douglasville, Ga.; step children: Joyce and Morris Fishman, Gary and Joy Hill, David and Linda Hill and Jim Hill; six step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
