Evangeline Pearl Quigley was born on Aug. 13, 1922, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Clarence and Lillian (Bird). Evangeline received her education in Sioux Falls, and graduated from Washington High School in 1940. In 1948, she was united in marriage to Walter Haak in Hartford, S.D. This union was blessed with two daughters, Pam and Vickie.
Evangeline had different jobs, but worked as a bookkeeper for Friessen Construction for many years. Some of her other joys included cooking and will always be remembered as a well-known cake decorator. The family will miss her chocolate chip pie, and chocolate covered cherries. Known as a little "chatterbox" Evangeline also loved going dancing, traveling, crafts, and just staying busy. This loving, compassionate, and nurturing woman would always make time for her family, that she adored so very much.
Those left to cherish Evangeline's memory include her daughters: Pam Calhoun of Mankato, Minn., and Vickie (Dalen) Heida of Spencer, Ia.; five grandchildren: Tammie (Daniel) Johnson of Rochester, Minn., Ryan (Kerry) Heida of Omaha, Neb., Cory Heida of Spencer, Ia., Sheila (Eric) Radel of Mankato, Minn., and Michelle Wilson of Mankato, Minn.; brother, David (Barbara) Quigley of Green Valley, Ariz.; and many other family and friends.
Those preceding Evangeline in death include her parents; her husband, Walter; one sister, Lillian; and four brothers: Bob, Dick, Clary, and Kenny.
