Gale Dean Johnson, 82 went to be with Lord on Jan. 1, 2011. Gale was the son of Alfred and Nettie Rowlett Johnson. He was born in Des Moines, Ia., June 9, 1928. His childhood years were spent in Milford and Lake City, Ia., where he received his education.
Gale moved to Spencer and worked for Roy DeMoss at his service station. He worked for Swift. Co., several years before going in the service and was stationed at Camp Carson, in Colorado Springs. Colo.
Gale married Sally King, July 8, 1951. They returned to Colorado for Gale to complete his Army duty. Gale then went to work for Hy-Line International for 26 years as fieldman, supervisor and then manager of the hatchery in Spencer. After working in California five years, they retired and then settled in Sun City. Gale was a member of the American Legion in Spencer.
Gale loved being around animals, gardening, fishing, camping and snowmobiling. Most of all he loved being around his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Gale was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; three brothers; several nieces and nephews; a sister and brother-in-law.
Gale is survived by one son and his wife, Randy and Kevin Shine-Johnson of Spencer; one daughter, Deborah Johnson of Sun City, Ariz.; three grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; three great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
