Services for Mary Sullivan, 88 will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Rev. William Schreiber will officiate the service.

Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Sullivan passed away at Longhouse Residence on Dec. 27, 2010.

Mary Sullivan, the daughter of Robert and Anna Treanor Byers, was born Nov. 27, 1922 in Spencer. Her childhood years were spent on a farm near Hartley. Mary received her early education in a country school near May City and graduated from the Spencer High School.

On Dec. 27, 1945, Mary married Duane "Sully" Sullivan in Spencer. Following their marriage, she worked at the Tangney Hotel gift shop and later as a bookkeeper for Witt Sales. Mary then began a time that gave her great joy, sharing activities and caring for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sully; son, Michael; five brothers and three sisters.

Mary is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Patricia and Roy Applegate and Jane and Tony Sholly - all of Spencer; one son, Jon of Spencer; six grandchildren: Julie Wiese, Jennifer Lennon, Jeff Applegate, Jill Applegate, Jim Sholly and Samantha Sullivan; five great-grandchildren: Megan, Renae and Travis Wiese and Shelby and Maddie Lennon; one sister, Lillian Dempsey of California; other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
