Funeral services for Jerome Killmar, 92 of Spencer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Rev. William Schreiber will officiate the service.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the services at the church.

Interment will take place at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer at a later date.

A military flag presentation will take place following the services at the church by Glen Pedersen Post No. 1 American Legion of Spencer.

Mr. Killmar passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at Spencer Hospital.

William "Jerome" Killmar, the son of William and Emilia (Gloetzel) Killmar, was born Jan. 18, 1918 in Spencer, Ia. His childhood years were spent in Spencer, where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1935. Following his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Marines during WWII from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946 after reaching the rank of Corporal.

Jerome married Mary Rubis on Feb. 6, 1945, in Spencer, Ia. Jerome was a lifetime resident of Spencer and worked at Cook Cleaners from 1946 until his retirement. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer. Jerome enjoyed dancing and was also a member of Glen Pedersen Post No. 1 -- American Legion and the VFW Clay County Post No. 3159 both of Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jerry Killmar.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary of Spencer; one son, Robert Killmar of Indianola, Ia.; one daughter, Jean Killmar of Spencer, Ia.; one sister, Marcella Vonderhaar of Humboldt, Ia.; other relatives and friends.

Warner Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
