Betty J. Guinn, daughter of Charles C. and Elizabeth L. (Crawmer) Krieg, was born Oct. 16, 1934, northeast of Mallard, Iowa. She attended country school south of her home and then completed her education at Mallard High School.
After graduation from high school, Betty attended cosmetology school in Fort Dodge and later worked as a nurse's aid at the Palo Alto County Hospital.
Betty was united in marriage to Dean Guinn. She was a devoted homemaker.
Betty was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Betty loved playing the piano for her own enjoyment.
Betty passed away Monday, Dec. 13 in Spencer, at the age of 76.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Krieg; and a sister, Vivian Krieg.
She is survived by two brothers, Marvin Krieg and his wife, Juanita, of Des Moines, Iowa and Roger Krieg and his wife, Shirley, of Ruthven, Iowa; a sister, Karen Boeckholt and her husband, Russell, of Gerber, California; special friend Dave Rowlands, of Spirit Lake; several nieces and nephews; as well as other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home in Emmetsburg. Parish will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Tom Geelan at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg, with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg.
