Funeral services for Mr. Lowell Hagedorn, 82, of Spencer, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Chuck Kellogg will officiate the service.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

There will be a lunch served following the service at Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. No burial information was provided.

Mr. Hagedorn passed away Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at his home in Spencer.

Lowell Duane Hagedorn, the son of Louis Simon and Edna (Nissen) Hagedorn, was born on April 9, 1928, in Clay County. Lowell graduated from Spencer High School in 1946. He then went into business with his father, buying and selling dairy cattle. Lowell entered into the military on March 7, 1951, serving in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Camp Carson, Colo., Red Bank, N.J., and Camp Atterbury, Ind. He studied teletype machines. Lowell was honorably discharged March 6, 1953.

Lowell married Gretchen Morgan on March 3, 1951, in Spencer. To this union, John Jay was born. Lowell was elected to the Clay County Supervisors for 16 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was involved with the Methodist Men. He also enjoyed bowling, golf and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, but most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gretchen of Spencer; his son, John, and his wife, Kathy, of Clanhassen, Minn.; his granddaughters: Morgan and Shelby; other relatives and many friends.
