Mrs. Grace Rausch, 95, of Emmetsburg passed away Thursday, Sept. 30, at Lakeside Lutheran Home in Emmetsburg.
Grace Ella Rausch, the daughter of Edward and Grace (McCannon) Brownmiller was born July 8, 1915, in Quimby. She attended the Rock No. 7 school near their home.
Grace married Jessie Rausch on Dec. 8, 1936, in the Methodist Church in Cherokee. She worked as a bookkeeper for Olson Transfer and they worked for farmers before starting a trucking business of their own in 1940 and continued it for 26 years.
Grace was a member of the Methodist Church in Cherokee, before transferring her membership to the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer, when they moved there in 1984. Grace enjoyed crocheting, reading, and traveling, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie; her parents; one sister, Mae Cunningham; and three brothers: Harold, Dale, and Leland Brownmiller.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Paul (Pat) Rausch, of Spencer; two grandchildren: Brenda (Tom) Irwin of Minneapolis, Minn. and Todd (Michele) Rausch of Arnolds Park; four great-grandchildren: Jessica, Don (Adel), Sam Irwin, and Josh Rausch; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
