Graveside services for Kenneth Anderson, 89, of Spencer, formerly of Webb, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, in Garfield Cemetery in Webb. Rev. Paul Hansen will officiate the service.

There will be no visitation.

Mr. Anderson passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2010, at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer.

Kenneth Andersen, the son of Russell and Gertrude (Ball) Andersen, was born on Oct. 31, 1920, in Denison, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near Deloit, Iowa, as well as farms near Alta and Ringstead. In 1939, he moved to a farm near Webb.

Kenneth married Shirley Johnson on Sept. 5, 1945, in Wilmar, Minn. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, but most of all spending time with family. He was a trustee of Garfield Township. He farmed in the Webb area until retiring in 1983 and moved to an acreage near Spencer. He also lived in the Sunset Apartments for the last four years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Clifford Andersen.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley; two sons: Michael Andersen of Pocahontas, and Jim (Kathi) Andersen of Hinton, Iowa; one daughter, Sharon (Dennis) Halder of Carroll; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of arrangements.
