Services for Florence E. Fry will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at First United Methodist Church in Emmetsburg. Rev. David Morris will officiate the service.

Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Emmetsburg.

Florence passed away Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital at the age of 95.

Florence Elizabeth Marie Johanna (Jurries) Fry, daughter of Charles and Louise (Topp) Jurries, was born Feb. 23, 1915, in Frankfort, Ill. After her family moved to Iowa, Florence attended rural school near Wallingford.

On March 30, 1934, Florence was united in marriage to Leon Fry in Emmetsburg. To this union nine children were born. Florence and Leon farmed near Graettinger and later near Lost Island Lake where they lived for fourteen years. Florence was active in farming with Leon.

Nearly 25 years ago, Florence moved from the farm to her home in Spencer. Last year Florence moved to the Ruthven Community Care Center Villa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Irene Namer and Ruth Sabin; six sisters; and six brothers.

She is survived by her children: Annette Potter (Ron) of Fostoria, Doris Steven (Milton) of Decatur, Tenn., Lois Heller (James) of Spencer, Sharon Koenck (Elvin) of Spencer, Leonard Fry of Ruthven, Larry Fry (Silvia) of Ponca City, Okla., and Sandra Johnson (Howard) of Ruthven; 32 grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
