Services for Mrs. Myrta R. Graham, 98, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29, at United Methodist Church in Ruthven. Rev. Roger Maize will officiate the service.

Interment will take place in Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven.

Mrs. Graham passed away Monday, July 26, 2010.

Myrta Ruth Graham, daughter of LeRoy and Etta (Cook) LeClair, was born Sept. 4, 1911, in Palo Alto County, southeast of Ruthven. She attended country school in Palo Alto County and then Ruthven High School, graduating in 1929. Following high school Myrta attended Buena Vista College for a short time. She later was employed at the hardware store.

On Oct. 2, 1940, Myrta was united in marriage to Ervin "Mike" Graham in Emmetsburg. To this union four sons were born. Myrta and Ervin made their home near Ruthven where she was a devoted farm wife, mother and grandmother.

Myrta was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Ruthven where she was an active member of United Methodist Women, serving in various offices of this organization. She also taught Sunday School for many years. She was instrumental in developing the History Book in 1984 and had been a past member of the Crown Hill Cemetery Board.

Myrta loved going fishing with Mike and her children and she was an avid card player.

Myrta moved to the Ruthven Community Care Center four years ago.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike; an infant son, William Roger in 1949; and two sisters: Georgia Bates and Lois Rezabek.

She is survived by her children, Ronald and Mary Ann Graham of Virginia Beach, Va., Jim and Donna Graham of Ruthven, and Richard and Pat Graham of Ruthven.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are being handled by Martin-Mattice Funeral Home.
