Burial in Glendale Cemetery will follow the services.
Kim grew up in Paullina, the son of Weber and Flora May (Warnke) Clayton. He moved to the Des Moines area 35 years ago and was currently the vice president of Marketing for American Administrators.
Kim was a graduate of the University of Iowa and remained a devoted Hawkeye supporter throughout his life. He enjoyed tailgating and attending Iowa football games. He was a member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association. Kim liked outdoor activities such as golfing, boating and biking. He participated in West Des Moines park development as president of the West Parks Foundation. He was also a board member of the American Diabetes Association.
Kim was a man of endless energy, which he invested in his work, community, church and family. He will be remembered for his love of family and his gift for meeting people. He took the time to visit and encourage others.
Kim is survived by his wife of 30 years, Debbie (Breuklander); son, John and daughter, Allison - both of Chicago; his mother, Flora May Clayton of Paullina; sister, Peggy Rick of Spirit Lake; nieces, nephews and many other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Weber Clayton; sister, Georgia Clayton; and brother-in law, John Rick.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Pkwy., West Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the West Parks Foundation.
